Now a days almost all countries of the world face the problem of Salinization of soil. It is one of the most decisive environmental factors limiting production in crop growing areas of arid and semi arid regions throughout the world. Till date soil salinization is an unavoidable phenomenon which cannot be overcome. G radual loss of agricultural land due to soil salinization may cause a serious problem for human population in near future. Unusual Leucas aspera from Jalpaiguri , West Bengal
Leucas aspera (Willd.) Link (Family Lamiaceae) is an annual herb and distributed almost all parts of India and the Philippines as well as the plains of Mauritius and Java .Leucas aspera is typically found in dry, open, sandy soil and is abundant in areas with waste .It is very famous for its uses in the fields of medicine and agriculture(Prajapati,2010;Srinivasan,2011). Leucas aspera Leaves and flowers of the plants are edible. Medicinally, it has been proven to possess various pharmacological activities like antifungal, antioxidant, antimicrobial, antinociceptive and cytotoxic activity(Prajapati,2010). During our survey work we have found an unusual flower of Leucas aspera in which corolla were completely free and represented by 8 petals. In upper view the flowers were appeared as star shaped.
